Through a Christ-centered classical education and in partnership with parents, The Oaks School exists to develop life-long learners who, with a worldview grounded in a thorough understanding of God’s truth, goodness and holiness, will thrive in academia or vocational environments. Students will shape and enrich their world for the glory of Jesus Christ and the betterment of humankind with truth, wisdom and a sense of what is beautiful.
We believe that God’s character is revealed in the person of Jesus Christ, His Word and in every facet of creation. Therefore, we teach that all knowledge is interrelated and instructs us about God Himself. We affirm that all our actions should be done “heartily, as unto the Lord” (Colossians 3:23), so we encourage quality academic work and maintain high standards of character and conduct. Our highest goal is to honor Christ by providing instruction that challenges our students to think and live within a Christian worldview.
A classically educated student is taught according to the Trivium (the three learning stages of children) which emphasizes that as children develop cognitively, they learn differently. Young children love to memorize and learn facts. During their elementary years, students learn the grammar (basics) of each subject. Middle school students are inquisitive, so they will be taught logic to develop their ability to reason and discern truth. In high school, students develop a deeper sense of how they are perceived by others, therefore, an emphasis will be placed on rhetoric where students learn to write and present their ideas persuasively.
We believe God has granted to parents the responsibility and authority for raising their children, including the responsibility of educating them. The Oaks School seeks to assist parents in this God-given responsibility. We are committed to fostering a supportive community of like-minded families, who with our faculty and staff, encourage one another in their calling to bring up their children to think and live for the glory of God.
Our culture is hospitable, Christ-centered and safe where all people are acknowledged as image bearers of God and worthy of respect. We cultivate the minds of our students with truth, beauty and goodness in order to create a childhood rich in virtue, love, courtesy, deference and honor. Our competent faculty model growth and grace, and teach with enthusiasm the curriculum that has stood the test of time and content that favors the best kinds of things.
As an independent school, The Oaks School provides a true Christian and classical educational experience that is pure in mission and vision, and free from governmental oversight or control.
